Garnock Valley

A flat walk on good tarmac on the disused railway line. This walk is pretty easy but pretty tedious. This walk is a lot better done in the opposite direction as I recently found out.
Easy
This is an easy walk on a good tarmac path. It is much used by cyclists, so beware of them. This walk is slightly more scenic than the Paisley to Lochwinnoch walk. It is still a walk which leaves a lot to be desired. The path is suffering a bit from poor maintenance (it is slightly overgrown). Bring lots of water and some good shoes here.
Train from Glasgow Central Station upper level/Paisley/Kilwinning to Lochwinnoch 2 times an hour.
The walk starts from the Lochwinnoch train stop. Walk to the scenic village Lochwinnoch and, if you have not already done so, buy some bottles of soft drinks here before taking the path signposted Glengarnock and Kilbirnie.
The path is flat with some sporadic interesting scenery. I recently did the walk in the opposite direction and these are two pictures from this path. The first picture is taken towards north in the direction of Lochwinnoch. The second picture is taken towards Beith at the other side of the glen.
There is a good signpost of the whole Kilbirnie to Paisley path just after Kilbirnie and this is a map worth checking out.

The path ends at the portal above. Follow the road/pavement to the right. After 150 yards/meters, take the first road down to the right, under a disused railway line and then the first road to the left. The road ends up in the Glengarnock village centre and the railway station where this walk ends.

McGill's bus 904 to Paisley/Largs 1 time an hour
