This is a great walk in the hills and farmlands between Kilmacolm and Bishopton. This is a great walk on single-track roads. One mile / 1.5 km of the walk is on a main road.

Pretty Hard

This walk is on some undulating roads. The walk also has some short, steep climbs. There are some great views throughout this walk. Protein bars and plenty of water are required on this walk.

McGill's Bus X7 to Kilmacolm from Glasgow/Braehead/Linwood 1 time an hour.

The walk starts from Kilmacolm village square, next to the well-stocked Coop Shop. From the bus stop, cross the road over to the Post Office and then the first road, Market Place to the right. 50 yards/meters up this road, take the next road, Gillburn Road to the right again. Follow this road up the hill for 300 yards/meters to the first proper road to the right again, Glencairn Road. Follow this road for half a mile/ 1 km until the end of this road. There are some really nice houses to the left of this road, btw.

At the end of Glencairn Road, take the Houston Road, which changes to Kilallan Road after 200 yards/meters, to the left up a steep hill to the first holes at the Kilmacolm Golf Course. The walk on this small road takes the walk between two of this golf course's holes and then down a long descent to a valley.



At the end of this descent, take the first tarmac road up to the left. The name of the road is Corseliehill Road and the road starts with this climb...



This undulating road is a real gem of a road and a physical test. There are some great views along this road too.



The road ends on the Barochan Road, the main Houston - Langbank road. This is a good road, although with some car traffic. The road is undulating with some great views. The next two pictures are from this road.







Take the single-track road signposted Formakin Estate down to the right and over a bridge with this house as an attraction.



The road climbs up to a hill before it crests the hill. There are some good views towards Bishopton from here.



The road takes you past Bishopton Cemetery before it ends up at the Old Greenock Road. Take this road to the right. After a further 150 yards/meters, take Slateford Road down the hill to the new Bishopton village. After 300 yards/meters, take the Craigton Drive to the left. At the end of this road, take the Bishopton train station signposted path to the train station where this walk ends.
